Segmenting Secrets: An Intro to Crafting Perfect Blanks From Scratch!

Ever marveled at those perfectly segmented blanks and wondered, “How do they do that?” Or maybe you’ve been dying to dive into the world of segmenting but weren’t sure where to begin? Well, your time has come! The **Intro to Segmenting** class will set you on the path to creating your own amazing designs.

In this hands-on class, we’ll dive into the basics of segmenting wood blanks—from picking the right wood, understanding grain patterns, and exploring contrasting colors, to experimenting with different materials. You’ll learn how to plan your design, make your cuts, glue everything together, and prep your blank for turning.

We’ve got you covered with all the materials, glues, and tools you need to create your custom segmented blanks. By the end, you’ll walk away with two segmented blanks, sized perfectly for a Sierra-style pen kit. We’ll be using saws, sanders, and plenty of glue—so be prepared for a little dust and a lot of fun!

Classes are one hour long, with a cozy group of just four participants, ensuring plenty of hands-on attention. And remember—while safety comes first with power tools, the excitement and creativity will be all yours! Come join us and see what you can create!

These sessions are FOUR students per class of 60-90 minutes. There are three scheduled classes offered this year.
